I have never actually seen shadow art but by the look of these images, the art appears to require immense amount of creativity not only in the positionining of the materials used, the angle of the lighting but also in the images that are created. My favorite pieces are the ones that appear to be garbage but when the light hits them, they make beautiful shadow art
Some of the artists who are using shadow to make art: Kumi Yamashita, Tim Noble and Sue Webster, Shigeo Fukuda, and Larry Kagan.
Kumi and Shigeo (who passed in 2009) are Japanese, Tim and Sue are British and Larry is American.

How incredible. And unpredictable. I’m almost scared thinking of unintentional shadows I’ve made.
It brings me back to my younger days when I tried to make figures with hands and fingers. I recall only being able to make a bunny. lol.
I tried to make my finger shadows pick other people’s noses
